Edition Records is thrilled to announce the signing of four-time Grammy-winning bassist John Patitucci, a towering figure in the world of jazz, for his upcoming studio album. This much-anticipated project features his dynamic trio with saxophonist Chris Potter and drummer Brian Blade, with a release scheduled for early 2025.

John Patitucci has been a beacon of virtuosity and creativity in jazz since the mid 1980s, collaborating with luminaries such as Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, and Herbie Hancock. With an illustrious career as a sideman and a leader with 17 solo recordings, Patitucci is now prioritizing his energy and considerable talents towards more frequent outings as a leader, promising a rich and exciting phase in his musical journey.

Reflecting on his new direction and collaboration with Edition Records, John Patitucci shared, “I’m incredibly excited to focus more on my own output, creating music that resonates with both long-time fans and new listeners. Edition Records, with their commitment to artistic vision and innovation, is the perfect partner to help me connect with audiences in today’s dynamic world.”

Dave Stapleton, founder of Edition Records, expressed his enthusiasm about working with Patitucci: “John has been at the forefront of contemporary jazz since the late ’80s and has worked with a who’s who in the jazz hierarchy. As he turns his attention more to his own output as a leader, it presents us with a perfect opportunity to explore new ways to engage his audience in a rapidly changing world. Our values have always centered around supporting and enhancing an artist’s vision, and this partnership fits perfectly with our mission.”

The upcoming album promises to be a landmark in Patitucci’s career, featuring innovative compositions and the deep musical synergy between Patitucci, Potter, and Blade. This project not only underscores John Patitucci’s mastery of the bass but also his evolving legacy as a bandleader in the modern jazz scene.
