Powerful and compelling, Sidekick is a major new album with collaboration at its core, featuring incredible singers including Frida Touray, Alison Sudol and Soren Bryce as well as instrumentalists Josh Arcoleo and Joe Webb.
Citing influences ranging from James Blake to Bjork and Radiohead, Chris’ music is uplifting, soaked with sun-drenched harmonies, but underwritten with darker sub-tones and a melancholy that deeply enriches the music and emotional narrative.
Over the last decade Chris has built a formidable reputation for his refreshing perspective, taste, and integrity as a producer who enhances the music and serves the song. As a result, many London based artists have sought out Chris to produce their music, notably Jordan Rakei for Ninja Tune. Sidekick is Chris’ first album as a solo artist, and it’s been a long time in the making.
“Sidekick represents friendship and trust and how that can translate into music. The fact I’ve known Joe Alex, Alex and Lloyd for so long allowed us to have no guards up whilst making music together. There is no judgement but just mutual respect all around; this gave us freedom to take risks, to push ourselves, and not be scared about getting something wrong.
