With a blend of Poppy hooks, synth-led production and Jazz-infused subtleties, ‘Time’ the new single from London based multi instrumentalist/producer Josh Arcoleo, is masterfully crafted and profoundly catchy. This is new work produced by a musician with a full grasp of what it means to make great, original music in a modern era.
Josh Arcoleo’s musicianship and sonics are striking. For the last decade or so he has carved a career as one of the most interesting jazz saxophonists of his generation. As a producer, his toolkit is effortless, diverse and without boundaries, blending all the best bits he has absorbed over his career so far with great taste and an ear for what is relevant in modern electronic music. With this new phase in his career and new music, Josh Arcoleo has crafted something only achievable through this unique blend of schooled Jazz musician meets producer. His new path is now destined for wider audiences and attention.
If K.O.K.O, released in February 2023, was the EP that launched this new phase, then ‘Time’ is its confirmation, affirmation and development of this sound, as Josh explains:
“Releasing K.O.K.O was a really big deal for me, after years of contributing to other incredible artists’ work, it really felt like the right time to say something of my own. I feel like a sound has developed in my writing over the last few years and it feels great to get it out there. I love music that makes people feel something emotionally, and music that makes people move. I hope that comes across to the listener”
At the centre of ‘Time’ is the collaboration with poet / rapper Tendayi, a London based artist making waves on the UK scene for his original lyrics and heartfelt rapping. The collaboration between these two unique artists is everything that is exciting about London’s thriving music scene.
With ‘Time’ Josh Arcoleo epitomises exactly what is interesting about modern music-making and is exceptionally good at what he does.
