The Zurich-born, Berlin-based vocalist, songwriter and creative producer joins Edition for a new creative chapter that begins with a major new album from Speak Low, her celebrated trio with bassist Petter Eldh and tenor saxophonist Otis Sandsjö. The announcement marks the 10th anniversary of the trio’s debut Speak Low.

Since the release of their debut in 2016, Speak Low has established a singular sound: voice, tenor saxophone and double bass stripped to their essentials, reimagining standards and songs with freedom, stillness, tension and emotional directness. The project earned Lucia the ECHO Jazz Award in 2017 and has been widely praised for its fearless approach to song, including acclaim from The Guardian, DownBeat, Jazzwise and Jazz Journal.

At the heart of Speak Low is a collective process of reinvention. The trio takes songs they love and looks at them through a non-traditional lens. The aim is never to preserve the music as it was, but to open it up through improvisation, listening and the distinctive chemistry between three equal voices.

The new album celebrates a decade of Speak Low while opening a new phase for the trio, one shaped by deeper trust, sharper instinct and the shared language that Cadotsch, Eldh and Sandsjö have developed over years of international touring and recording. It is both a continuation and a renewal: a reflection of where the band has come from, and a statement of where the music can go next. For Lucia, partnering with Edition is a natural extension of that journey, offering a home that understands both the intimacy and ambition of the music.

The signing also opens the door to further Lucia Cadotsch projects with Edition Records, to be announced in due course.

Dave Stapleton, Founder and CEO of Edition Records, says:

“Lucia is a singular artist. She grew up with Billie Holiday and Nina Simone, but was also inspired by artists like Wayne Shorter, so inevitably her music carries a searching quality that makes it entirely her own. Speak Low is a deeply collaborative project, but Lucia has this instinct for bringing the right people into the room, helping shape her vision and creating the conditions for something genuinely original to happen. That combination of clarity, courage and collective spirit feels completely aligned with Edition, and we’re incredibly excited to help tell the next part of this story.”

Further details on the new Speak Low album, release date and formats will be announced soon.
