This relationship has been a long time in the making. Since Edition’s founding in 2008, many Edition artists have performed at St George’s including Phronesis, Tim Garland and Daniel Herskedal. Now, with a renewed commitment, both Edition and St George’s are excited about working together to support the development of artists and audiences.
As Dave Stapleton, founder and CEO of Edition Records explains: “Since my first visit to St George’s, when I was studying in Cardiff, the venue has always been a venue of choice for its beautiful acoustics as well as its progressive programming. To partner with them in this capacity is incredibly exciting. It’s a venue I have performed at personally and seen many concerts at with great memories.
As we come towards the end of the pandemic and tackle new challenges, this partnership allows teams from both a record label and venue to collaborate in developing new marketing initiatives, and ways of working to develop awareness and growth of audiences and the music we love. I’m looking forward to working with our team and the great people at St. Georges on some opportunities.”
“We’re delighted to be partnering with the formidable Edition Records as our first associate record label. We have been long standing admirers of the work that Dave and his team have done to grow this indie label into the global platform it is today. Their eclectic roster resonates strongly with our own programming ambitions and we are looking forward to working with them to develop new and interesting ways for audiences to connect with live music across the sector.
The performances of Edition artists have been concerts that are remembered fondly in the St George’s calendar as they provided a stage for artists that have truly explored the soundscape of the auditorium and its stunning natural acoustic. We’re really looking forward to working in this new way with Edition to open up more opportunities for audiences to engage with live music.” Trish Brown / Programming Team at St George’s
The first performances to feature Edition artists include Slowly Rolling Camera (6 November 2021), Sachal Vasandani / Romain Collin (15 November 2021) and a double bill of Rob Luft & AuB (24 March 2022). Further plans and opportunities will be announced later this year.
This collaboration aims to benefit not just Edition Artists and St George’s audiences, but a host of UK wide communities across this vibrant scene as the partnership develops.
