Following the success of his first three albums – Cairn, Forest Floor and Stream – pianist Fergus McCreadie returns in 2025 with The Shieling, an album that marks a change in process for him and his longstanding trio. The Shieling reflects a deeper sense of space, rootedness, and stillness, recorded in a remote cottage studio on North Uist in the Scottish Outer Hebrides, and produced by celebrated musician Laura Jurd.
McCreadie, along with bassist David Bowden and drummer Stephen Henderson, retains the trio’s signature blend of Scottish-folk influence and lyrical improvisation, but finds them exploring a more introspective sound shaped by the wild, elemental landscape around them.
Over the past few years, McCreadie has become one of the most recognised voices in British jazz, lauded for his powerful performances and emotional reach. From the rootedness of Cairn to the rhythmic force of Forest Floor and the flow of Stream, he’s consistently struck a chord with audiences worldwide.
The Shieling is released on 24th October 2025, followed by a European and UK tour (tickets go on sale this Friday)
