FREELANCE LABEL CO-ORDINATOR

Job Title: Freelance Label Co-ordinator
Company: Edition Records (New Imprint)
Location: United Kingdom (Remote)
Type: Freelance Part-time (one day a week / 8 hours)

About Edition Records:

Edition Records is a British independent record label specialising in contemporary jazz and music that crosses into electronica, improvisation and other forms of creative expression.

Established in 2008, Edition is led by founder and Artist Dave Stapleton and features a catalogue that connects artists across the UK, Europe and North America. Edition’s approach centres on musical identity, trust and long-term collaboration.

About the role:

Edition Records is launching a new imprint, due to be announced in autumn 2026. The Label Co-ordinator will play a key and active role in the day-to-day running and development of the new imprint.

Working closely with the Artistic Director, the Label Co-ordinator will take the lead on the operational and administrative side of release campaigns, helping to turn the label’s strategy and creative plans into well-organised, timely and effective campaigns.

The role will involve co-ordinating releases from initial planning through to delivery and campaign completion, working across digital distribution, data management, media, radio, newsletters, social activity and artist co-ordination.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is highly organised, detail-focused and comfortable managing multiple deadlines and relationships at the same time. The successful candidate will be proactive and able to work independently, while maintaining clear and effective communication with the Artistic Director, artists, distributors, media and other industry contacts.

You do not need to be an expert in every area of label coordination but experience within the music industry or similar creative industry role is expected. We are particularly interested in someone with strong organisational and communication skills, the confidence to learn, take ownership and develop with the new imprint.

Key responsibilities

Campaign & Release Co-ordination

  • Translate label and campaign strategy into clear actions, priorities and timelines, maintaining accurate schedules and ensuring activity is delivered from planning through to post-release.

  • Track outstanding actions, approvals, assets and information; proactively identify and communicate potential issues or delays.
  • Maintain clear, accurate campaign and release records, with organised digital assets and information accessible to the relevant team and partners.

Marketing & Industry Outreach

  • Co-ordinate agreed DSP pitching, media, radio, social, newsletter and industry outreach activity, ensuring deadlines, assets and follow-ups are managed effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach, responses, leads, opportunities and follow-up actions, keeping the Artistic Director informed of relevant developments.
  • Manage campaign-related correspondence and respond to incoming requests, providing information, assets and materials as required.

Artist & Partner Liaison

  • Maintain clear, professional communication with artists, distributors and other partners throughout campaigns.
  • Co-ordinate artist input, availability, approvals and assets, following up where required and ensuring artists have the information they need at each stage.
  • Work with internal and external contacts to ensure campaigns and releases run smoothly and to schedule.

General Administration & Support

  • Support the Artistic Director with the smooth running of the imprint and release schedule, ensuring agreed actions are followed through.
  • Undertake other reasonable label and campaign co-ordination duties as required.

Skills and experience

The successful candidate is likely to have:

  • Previous experience in a music, label, artist management, marketing, PR, media or related creative industry environment.
  • An understanding of how music release campaigns operate, including distribution, DSPs, media, radio and artist promotion, or similar complex project experience.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to handling information, metadata, assets and schedules.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence communicating professionally with artists, industry contacts, media, distributors and other external partners.
  • Experience using spreadsheets, shared documents, databases, project management tools or similar systems to organise information and track activity.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and keep projects moving forward, working calmly and accurately when managing multiple deadlines.
  • Independent – able to manage their own workload and make sensible decisions about priorities.
