Portuguese guitarist and major jazz star on the vibrant Lisbon scene has worked with many artists including Julian Arguelles and Alexi Tuomarila and released his first international album on Edition Records
Born in Lisbon in 1976, guitarist André Fernandes studied at the Lisbon Hot Club School and later at Berklee College of Music. He has contributed to the projects of many internationally renowned jazz musicians including Julian Arguelles, Avishai Cohen, Lee Konitz, Joshua Redman, Tomasz Stanko and Maria Schneider. Already well-established in his native Portugal, in 2002 he co-founded record label Tone of a Pitch, for which he has recorded six albums – his album Cubo was voted best jazz album of 2007 by the Portugese critics’ poll.
