Josh Arcoleo is a powerhouse. One of the U.K’s hardest working musicians, Josh is usually found playing saxophone with some of the most innovative creators of our generation. Whether it’s touring with Mercury Prize winner Michael Kiwanuka, tearing it up on stage with jazz bassist Jasper Høiby, or laying down tracks for producer Jordan Rakei, Josh has been quietly shaping the current musical landscape.
His debut album on Edition Records established him as an incredible jazz saxophonist (4-stars in the Guardian, Evening Standard) but he hasn’t released any music in his own name in a decade. Whilst co-writing and performing on an eclectic mix of projects (Snowpoet, Dan Kye, Native Dancer) Josh has been honing his skills as multi-instrumentalist and producer for his genre-defying E.P.
The resulting album (set for release on 3 February 2023) is a deeply personal statement, epitomising Josh’s creative energy. K.O.K.O: (Keep On Keeping On – a mantra from Josh’s mentor the late jazz icon: Pee Wee Ellis) big instrumental hooks, heavy beats and glitchy vocal samples into a stunning new record.
E2 Music boss, Dave Stapleton says “I’ve been waiting for Josh to create a new album since 2012, and this is exactly the music I wanted to hear – fresh, honest and authentic, full of tone, taste and high production values”
For Josh Arcoleo, this record is a long time coming but worth the wait: “I’ve felt this music floating around in my head for a few years, and it’s finally come together in a really natural and beautiful way. It was inspired by some very important people in my life who I love and value, and I’m lucky to have made this EP with some of those people. I hope that feeling and emotion comes across to the listener”.
Co-produced with his brother, Alex Arcoleo, and featuring on our new genre-less imprint E2 Music, K.O.K.O sets the tone for Josh Arcoleo’s future.
